Multimedia artist Michel Demello describes his multifaceted sound as “raised by the Internet.” Born in Brazil and raised between Brazilian and Swiss cultures, his unrestricted access to the Internet allowed him to explore the world of digital arts. Influenced by the late 2000s Internet culture, he immersed himself in various genres and became infatuated with the diverse soundscapes and subcultures he discovered online.

After attending art school for visual arts as a teenager, he worked as an interactive media designer for Swisscom, where he realized that music was his true passion. He is now a full-time producer and session musician. By building a solid roster of collaborators and bands with which he produces and performs, he gained experience at some of Switzerland’s best venues and stages, even venturing into other European cities like Paris and Naples. These experiences inspired his neo-soul and jazz-infused debut EP, “Venture,” created in collaboration with fellow musician Sabina Rüegg.

The EP garnered attention from the Paris-based clothing brand Laurence Bras, which featured their song “WHY” as the main soundtrack for its Fall 2023 ad campaigns. Following his debut EP, Demello participated in numerous studio sessions with musicians such as Jella, Muvunyi, Janti, and Kleopatra Wein. Notably, in collaboration with Kleopatra Wein, he contributed to the movie score for the Cannes World Film Festival Award-winning film “SIKA by KOLLEKTIV OSKAR.

Being both a producer and a session musician allows him to produce music for his peers while performing it live with original material. In the past year, he has performed at various festivals and venues, including the Gurten Festival, Dachstock, Lakelive, Stolze Openair, Gaskessel, Zentral Wäscherei, and Galvanik, among others. His plans for the future include maximizing his output as a producer and releasing upcoming collaborative projects.
